Weather functionality?

I just got the GTNXi for X-Plane - it looks like aside from METAR data, none of the weather functions are implemented. Is this correct? If yes, will XPlane's NEXRAD be implemented in the future?

It is correct, at this stage we support live worldwide METAR. Research is being conducted on the X-Plane 12 weather radar (as a radar function), but there are no promises until we see the feature fully implemented, working and tested in the TDS GTNXi environment.

From the TDS end, work is always underway to continue improving our product with the features that matter the most to our users!

Hello, I've just logged into this forum to open a post regarding the same exact issues, and foudn this answer. We'd all appreciate if you give this issue a bit more of your time. it's the storms season now and our simming experience is impacted . I really like your product and how real it is, and it's my fav acionics, so, again, kindly to develop this radar the soonest. Thank you for understanding.

That's great to hear, but I was actually asking about the NEXRAD display that X-Plane provide, rather than the new radar (which I realize may take some time to implement)

Unfortunately NEXRAD is not an option that we take into consideration at this point, it will be the X-Plane 12 weather radar, as a true weather radar. We are not even sure that X-Plane 12 supports NEXRAD via their SDK as we would need it to.

Ah, ok. Ironically, I had thought NEXRAD was the easier option - it's essentially what the "legacy" radar is

In the context of the PC Trainer, the situation is different, so we are assessing the actual radar, in terms of the data that is needed by us. While it sounds simple, the TDS GTNXi is very complex in terms of weather, as it is not just a weather page, but also a map weather overlay!

Not to worry, the TDS GTNXi is in good hands and of course that it is our desire to add weather as well as other great features to it!

We need a full SDK in order to assess the issue, what you have provided us is a roadmap article intended to the end-user, not to the developer.
