Autopilot? More realistic cockpits?
#1
Do Asobo planes keep autopilot functionality with GTNXi installed?

Are there any plans to make Asobo plane cockpits look more realistic? E.g. it seems that replacing steam gauge C172's GNS530/430 stack (and keeping the Bendix King autopilot) would be a more realistic looking outcome than current pasting of GTNXi screen onto right hand G1000 display. Is anything like this planned?

If I'm not mistaken, the only option to have a realistic looking cockpit would be to buy Just Flight products? (but none of these have autopilot with vertical modes).

Finally - Working Title G100NXi is slated to eventually become the default G1000 in MSFS. Will Asobo plane integration of GTNXi stop working when G1000NXi becomes default (and presumably only) stock G1000?

Thank you!

Hello,
All airplanes that use the default MSFS autopilot and if the WT G1000 NXI is disabled keep the autopilot, yes.

Unfortunately we do not have the ability to modify the existing cockpits of default airplanes, this is impossible for us, only the creators of the airplanes have the ability.

At the moment, you are right, only the JustFlight aircraft have a VC integration, but two add-on aircraft are coming very soon and they will have proper vertical control.

Modding an aircraft requires access to the aircraft.cfg and some of the other config files. In planes that come with the Standard Edition of MSFS, these files are accessible in the SimObjects folder of the plane.

The planes in the Premium and Deluxe edition of MSFS are DLC encrypted and can't be modded. The files required like aircraft.cfg are locked inside a .fsarchive file that can't be unencrypted. Unless Asobo decide to unencrypt some of these files so the planes can be modded (something on the wish list), there's nothing a 3rd party can do with them.

Thank you for the info. Yes, I have the Premium Delux so don't really know what comes with which version

Thank you. I bought the software and will give it a try with Asobo planes. Maybe somethign relatively easy to fly will come along with support GTNXi - and vertical autpilot modes  Smile

Yeah, the steam gauge 172 comes with either the premium or deluxe. Not sure which offhand since I have the PD edition as well. It's encrypted and that's why it doesn't work.

The TDS GTNXi works very well with the default aircraft in terms of lateral and vertical control of the autopilot!
