TDSGPSManager not installing Flight Simulator

Excellent. That did the trick. The install now runs to completion with a newly created folder tds-gtnxi-gauge (and subfolders) created in the community folder. Collectively they contain the missing files the previous failed install was complaining about.

I haven't been able to prove the install though because MSFS2020 is sat on an update which is taking ages. I'm sure it will be OK though.
