AIRAC Cycle Updates
#1
Is this new TDS GTNxi able to receive AIRAC updates through Navigraph or some other method?

Regards,
Dane

Hello Dane,

Thank you for your interest in the TDS GTNXi, we are here to constantly improve it. Navigraph is not currently supported in the TDS GTNXi and it is unknown if it will ever be.
The reasoning behind this is that the TDS GTNXi has the real world database, it is exactly what you would see in a real airplane.

Thank you for your reply. I understand the reason, but that still leaves the question... What AIRAC cycle is it shipped with and how is it kept up to date?

Dane,

The AIRAC cycle shipped with the TDS GTNXi is currently 2004. The updates do not come from us, it usually took 6 months to 12 months for a new cycle, but this is no guarantee.
Of course, when there is news on an AIRAC cycle, we will post it here.

Good evening, I wanted to know in which directory the  navigation maps should be placed to have access to them in the GTN

Hello,

The navigation charts of the TDS GTNXi have a proprietary format and they can not be updated using Navigraph charts.
If you still request the directory of the charts, we can give it to you, but please do not attempt an upgrade as it could break existing chart functionality.

Thank you.

This does not make sense to me.  So, the GTNXi contains an out of date AIRAC cycle just like the real airplanes do.  I don't know know any pilot that does not keep his navigation software out of date...particularly commercial passenger GA aircraft.  Some private pilots, maybe a cycle or two.  Not being able to update the AIRAC cycle seems to be a major flaw that6 TDS has ignored.  So tell me, how do you intend to update the AIRAC Cycle.
Thanks...Malcolm Arnot

Hello Malcolm,

We totally understand your concern regarding updating the databases. We have seen that the PC Trainer would be updated once every 6-12 months and once that is done, we will follow as soon as possible.
We are not limited to this and if/when we will have news, we will publicly post. Not to worry, we are treating this topic very seriously.

Just purchased this new system and love it, works well with my 310R, great job. But agreed with Malcolm, currently using the airac 2004 still is a concern. Updates every 6-12 months, then since the original post in this thread back in May 2021 there's been NIL updates...or have a I missed something. On the other hand, was flying in and out of YMEN over the weekend, as some stages I had access I'm sure to the charts and then other times NO CHARTS AVAIL...I think you've got a great product here, well done to the developers, $80 AUD purchase for me, I would hope that updates become available soon.

Hello, thank you for your nice words. We have noted your request and updateable databases and we appreciate your input. The timeframe of 6-12 months was stated as past experience, not as a future promise, unfortunately, as this does not depend on us. However, we take the database issue seriously.
